Reducing Water Use

ultra-porous Persist biochar retains moisture in soil, extending its availability to plants.

Ornamentals (California)

Persist® PAF improved the germination rate in coleus plants by up to 4.5%.

* Commercial nursery trial

Broccoli (California)

Persist PAF resulted in a 61% increase in total plant weight in nursery trials.

* Holden Research and Consulting

Tomato (Hawaii)

In a grower trial, Persist Biochar delivered a 15% yield increase with 40% water savings.

* Ige Group

Celery (California)

Persist PAF produced 72% greater new root growth and a 31% increase in plant weight in nursery trial.

* Holden Research and Consulting

Climate change is bringing drier conditions to many areas, increasing costs and restricting availability of water. Soils amended with Persist Biochar showed 37-51% improved moisture retention in recent trials.

Biochar saves water, reducing the impact of drought.

49 Day Drought Trial with Flowers

Comparison

A series of studies were conducted to evaluate the water holding capacity of biochar. In one, flowers were planted in two self-watering pots, which were then top-watered and filled.

After 15 days, the water level indicator in the non-biochar planter dropped significantly but remained virtually unchanged in the biochar-amended planter, even after 30 full days of no water.

After 49 days of no additional watering, the flowers in the biochar-amended pot were still in bloom and the leaves were green and healthy.  Flowers in the non-biochar pot were dead.

Persist Premium Biochar

One pound of ultra-porous Persist™ biochar has a surface area of over 25 football fields. Water adheres to these surfaces to retain moisture in soil up to six times longer. The microscopic pores also serve as a habitat for microbes, creating a microbe mega-factory in your soil.

Persist PAF Bio-liquid

Persist™ PAF is a unique liquid blend of organic acids, phenols, and natural compounds. While biochar provides shelter for microbes, PAF provides the food. Recent crop trials, including strawberry, pepper, and soybean, show significant improvements in nutrient uptake and yield.

Persist Biochar Saves Water

Add millions of microscopic water reservoirs to your soil.

Soils amended with Persist™ biochar exhibit improved water and nutrient retention due to enhanced porosity. A mere pound of Persist biochar boasts a surface area greater than 25 football fields. Water adheres to these surfaces, allowing plant roots to absorb it more effectively over the long term.

In a recent third-party trial, Persist biochar provided 23% better moisture retention than soil without biochar.

Persist

Precise Particle Size Control

Persist biochar, made from pistachio shells, has exceptional hardness which enables precision processing into specific particle sizes. Persist offers several standard particle sizes and can match custom requirements for particles as small as 44 microns (about the size of household dust).

Micronized biochar― for dry or liquid application.

  • Carefully screened particles less than 44 microns (0.044 mm) designed for superior suspension of biochar in liquid.
  • Enhances dispersibility of biochar in soil for more precise nutrient delivery while reducing loss from volatilization.
  • Micronized particles further improve water retention, nutrient availability, and microbial activity in soils.
